We supply and process black locust logs for park landscape and playground projects. The earned attention of black locust wood as a superior material to treated lumber has led to increased demand on part of architects and contractors seeking an available supply. We help meet this demand through supplying the raw timber to building the finished piece.
Oasis Playscapes (playoasis.com
), our parent company, has extensive experience in playground design and construction which helps guide your final order. Our wood sourcing services grew out of our own need to secure a regular supply of black locust for outdoor applications.
Black locust (Robinia Pseudoacacia) is native to North America and grows prolifically in the Mid West, Arkansas/Oklahoma, as well as New England and the Northeast. Unlike the the supply of black locust from plantations in Hungary, the timbers harvested in American forests tend to be irregular and difficult to mill. Cited as an invasive species in many states, black locust has not been propagated in a manner that makes it more suitable as a building material. Outdoor uses, however, abound as our work has demonstrated.
